Item Description
8x10" photo taken in baseball park shows Ty Cobb at right in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform with his teammate Eddie Collins behind the wheel of a Stutz Bearcat as large crowd in stands looks on. New car has sign inside front windshield “Chicago Batting For Collins Stutz For Safety”. Lower right has N.E.A. text. Reverse side of photo has N.E.A. ink stamp "Reference Dept. July 15, 1927". Back of top has typewritten caption “Left To Right Eddie Collins, Paul Collins And Ty Cobb”. Cobb has his arm around Paul Collins who was the son of Eddie Collins. The car was likely a gift to Eddie Collins from the team owners. Image area of photo has been retouched a bit on right side as originally done for printing purposes. Lower right corner has pinhole in blank corner tip and upper left extreme corner tip is missing tiny dot of paper, otherwise photo has Exc. appearance. A sharp and clear image great for framing with two of baseball’s greatest players. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
