Item Description
7 7/8x10" with image of Kelly wearing Boston uniform. Signed at lower left in blue ballpoint pen. Kelly has also written “Boston 1941" at upper left of back. Back has photographer ink stamp “Geo. Burke Chicago” and lower right and top of back has ink stamp “From The Estate Of George L. 'High Pockets’ Kelly”. N. Mint. George Kelly (1895-1984) played with the New York Giants beginning in 1915 and became a lineup regular in 1920 when he led the league with 94 RBIs. Kelly drove in 100 or more runs for four consecutive seasons and batted .300 or higher in six consecutive seasons. He was traded to the Cincinnati Red Legs in 1927 and wound up with the minor league Minneapolis Millers in 1931. He retired in 1932 as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a coach with the Boston Braves from 1938 to 1943. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
