Item Description
1-5/8x2-3/8" Cuban card from set distributed in packs of Diaz cigarettes. The cards in this set feature players from the 1923-24 Cuban Professional League. 85 cards are in the set, the largest and one of the scarcest of all 1920s Cuban card issues. Printed in dark brown with photo on front along with team and player name and position "Habana B.B.C. Lloyd-Infielder." Strong image. Card back includes number and description of the series with offer for an album (see item #1393). This is one of the key cards in the set. Lloyd is rated by Bill James as one of the top 30 baseball players of all time and was known as the "Black Wagner" as a comparison to Honus Wagner. See Lloyd photo (and expanded bio), item #1406.
