Thin art board with 21-1/8x28-1/8" India ink image area includes "Little Brother" topper strip and 12-panel "The Bungle Family" strip for March 9, 1930. "Little Brother" topper strip has heavy-set man paying little boy nickels to help find his dog. Bungle Family strip is hand titled "Two Lessons-One At Home" and has Mr. Bungle attempting to teach Mrs. Bungle how to defend herself at home if a burglar shows up. She gets the better of him and he winds up going to "Jiu-Jutsu" gym to ask for money back for lesson he took. Art is signed in ink "Tuthill" at bottom right corner of panel 12. Art board has some wear around blank margin edges, image area has a few moisture marks here and there with some foxing in panels 7-10. Panel 3 of "Little Brother" topper has two small holes in one word balloon. Overall image area will mat to near Fine appearance. Harry J. Tuthill (1886-1957) created the Bungle Family in 1918. Originally titled "Home, Sweet Home" it first appeared in the New York Evening Mail. The Evening Mail was sold in 1924 and Tuthill took the strip to the McNaught Syndicate in 1924 and changed the name to the Bungle Family. The strip followed the adventures of Josephine and George Bungle including their petty arguments and disagreements along with problems inside and outside of the house. A well-drawn, funny example, nicely hand water-colored.
