Item Description
Original art group includes: six bottom halves and one top half from Sunday pages. (See #2169 for history of this comic strip.) Each art board has 11-5/8x21-1/8" India ink image area. Each has eight panels and all seven bottom halves are signed by Tuthill in ink in one bottom panel. 1935 dates include Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. 1936 dates are: Mar. 29, Apr. 19, Sept. 13, Sept. 27, and Oct. 4. Three other thin art boards range in size from 4.25x22.75" to 6.25x21-5/8" and include two topper strips and one tier from a Sunday page with George Bungle. All have some wear around edges with a few moisture marks here and there in image areas along with some lt. dust soil. Overall Good/VG. Group comes with 35 plastic printing plates, each approx. 3.75x12-5/8" for daily comic strips dated between 1939 and 1945 along with three daily slick paper comic strip proof pages. Two envelopes holding printing plates are heavily worn, proofs are folded as issued, printing plates themselves are Exc. Interesting group.
