Item Description
9x11" wood frame has archival mat with 5x7" opening revealing wonderful pencil and watercolor art with man in cape running from large space tower building designed like rocket ship with moons and stars in bkg. c. 1950s. Lower left is signed in white paint "Alex Schomburg". c. late 1950s. Bright and Exc. Alex Schomburg (1905-1998) was a prolific American commercial and comic book artist and painter whose career lasted over 70 years. He began working on pulps in the 1930s and freelanced for Timely Comics in the 1940s doing covers featuring Captain America, Sub-mariner, The Human Torch and others. In the early 1950s he left the comics field and spent the remainder of his career on covers for science fiction magazines and books. Extremely well done and ready for display.
