Item Description
15x20" Cold Press 2200 illustration board has wonderful tempera and watercolor original art of three robots attacking man and woman in space uniforms. Elaborate background includes large wire screen in front of room with dynamos and detailed red brick ceiling. c. 1960s. Art is signed in red ink at lower right "Gray Morrow". Bright and Exc. Gray Morrow (1934-2001) was an American illustrator of paperback books and comics. He is best known as art director of Spider-man between 1967-1970 and as an illustrator of the syndicated Tarzan, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon and Prince Valiant comic strips among others. He was a feature cover and interior illustrator for many science fiction magazines in the 1960s-1970s and was nominated for the Hugo Award for best professional artist in 1966, 1967 and 1968. Wonderful action scene with incredible detail. Great example of Morrow's painting ability.
