Item Description
7-5/8x10" glossy photo c. 1921-1922 shows Moses Yellowhorse in Pittsburgh uniform. Blank reverse has his name typewritten. Photo has a few lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light. Center of photo has .5" and a .75" tan marks. Overall Fine. Mose Yellowhorse (1898-1964) pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1921 until 1922 and was the first full-blooded American Indian to have played in the major leagues. Over his two year stay with the Pirates, Yellowhorse was used primarily as a reliever and compiled a record of eight wins and four losses. He went on to play minor league baseball due to repeated arm injures. He pitched the final game of his professional career on May 1, 1926. A rare photo. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
