Item Description
2.25x3-7/8" card for "Association of Professional Ball Players of America" fund which helps indigent baseball players has "Orestes Minoso" name typed in proper place noting dues have been paid to July 1, 1955.  Card has receipt #721 and membership #23271 typed in proper place and ink signature of Los Angeles secretary Win Clark.  Card is for year 1954-55 and reverse side has rules.  Upper right corner of card has 3/8" moisture mark and lower right corner of card has tiny moisture mark.  Overall Fine.  On May 1, 1951 Minoso became the first black player to wear a Chicago White Sox uniform and he was playing with them when this card was issued.  A unique one of a kind Minoso item and would be great to display with a photo of him in action.  From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
