Item Description
1-15/16" with silver luster tin rim holding mirror on underside and paper label on top. Full text reads "Compliments Of/Hamly & Lease,/The Wide-Awake/Expert Ferrotypers,/Touring The Globe./Ithica Sign Works, Ithica, N.Y." The paper label has light even tan toning on the outer perimeter but otherwise the piece is extremely clean with near 100% intact silvering on the mirror. While we most often associate the word "ferrotype" with 1860-1880's campaign items the term also applies to tin-type photos and most likely this piece promotes a business that went from town to town participating in fairs and carnivals to produce photographic images of the public. Only example we've seen. Extremely Fine. See photographic related stickpin group #578.
