Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
The obverse of this piece was an 1860 campaign medal with his large portrait plus text "For President John C. Breckinridge Of Kentucky." The dies were cut by Benjamin True whose name appears on the shoulder of Breckinridge in tiny letters. As the campaign piece it was issued with a large eagle displayed on the reverse. Sometime after 1860 examples in other than white metal where struck for collectors. This example has a blank reverse. We are not sure of the age of this piece, it could date back as far as the 1870's or it could be twentieth century. In any case condition is essentially Mint with a beautiful brass luster accented by rainbow patina colors.
