1-1/8" dia. with tiny loop on top side edge so it could be suspended from a chain. Front rim reads "For President 1868 U. S. Grant." Reverse reads "Vice-President 1868 S. Colfax." The Grant ferro has two pinpoint emulsion dots off the area of his beard and just a little soiling on the extreme upper edge in reflected light but not enough to obscure the details of the hair when the piece is viewed normally. The Colfax ferro has a couple of hairlines of emulsion loss beneath one eye, around his lips and beneath his nose but these are so tiny as to be really obvious only with magnification and the emulsion loss barely shows to the naked eye. Overall a Fine example and one of the few Grant ferrotypes to carry the 1868 campaign date.
