c.1920s issued by cereal company in Minneapolis. 19x27.5" fabric printed on one side designed to be cut out and stuffed has image of African American chef holding bowl of “Cream Of Wheat”. Includes front and back images as well as image of what doll would look like assembled along with text instructions. Cloth is uncut but has folds as issued which would easily iron out. Bright and VF. Includes original apron string. Includes folded letter which opens to 8.25x11" printed on Cream of Wheat Company letterhead with text including “We Are Very Glad To Send You The Rastus Doll, Ready To Be Sewed And Stuffed, And Feel Sure This Lovable, Familiar Figure Will Find A Hearty Welcome From The Little Folks”. Letter goes on to promote benefits of cereal and ends with “Hoping Rastus Will Mean Many Happy Play Hours For The Children”. Letter has lt. handling creases. Fine. Heavily worn envelope just comes along. Includes company logo and address of recipient in poor condition. Fabric would be great to frame and display.
