Auction #204 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1446 in auction 204
Item Description
12x29.24" wood frame has 9 5/8x 26.75" opening with wonderful photo showing 17 team members on field in uniforms with several holding baseballs, gloves, or mitts. Photo is by Heiser Co. Cleveland, OH. Most players wear White jerseys though one has a pin striped uniform with "Inchcomb Engineers" name on jersey, another has "Eagle" name on jersey and one is wearing a sweater with logo initials “CE”. A large crowd is on surrounding hillsides in background. White Autos, which became White Trucks after World War I, was part of the National Amateur Baseball Federation and this photo was likely taken after their October game which they won over the Omaha Luxus at Brookside Stadium. The Library of Congress in Washington has different photos from this game with one listing the attendance at 115,000 which would be a record for any baseball game in America. Left of center are a few 1" scratches with small tear and margin edges have some lt. creasing with tiny tears and a few moisture marks at top not affecting player images. Overall VG but displays Fine as professionally framed. Early and historical, ready for display. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
