Item Description
13x18" thin art-board c.1950s for proposed Western cloth patch series premium. Has two image areas, each 6.75x9.5" hand painted and hand lettered in tempera. Design at left is box front showing boy and girl wearing patches with text “Yippi-ieeeeeeeeee” with image of three patches at left and text “A Western Cloth Patch In This Package See Back Panel”. Names and Images on patches are Texas Longhorn, Bar X Ranch, Cowboy. Box back mentions “48 Patches In The Series” with list of ones to be offered: “Cowboys, Ranches, Horses, Cowgirls, Rodeos, Desert, Round-ups, Branding, Roping, Trail Riding, Camping, Riding Life In The Colorful Western West” with additional text “Wear Them On .../Make A Bandana, Babushka, Pennant”. Includes 20 rough designs of proposed patches along with blank box with text at top “How To Sew On”. Some scattered lt. dust soil and some lt. pencil under-drawing but main image area will mat and frame to bright and Fine/VF condition. Unique and great for display. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold, accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
