Item Description
Each is c. 1900 India ink on illustration board with ink stamp on reverse side for "Century" magazine. First has 5-3/8x9" image area titled in pencil "Topsy Turvy Town" with image of little girl looking at herself in reflecting pool. Art is initialed FYC and reflecting pool image has same initials in reverse. Second board has 4x5.25" image area of Indian dancing with tomahawk. Art is initialed FYC at right and has penciled text poem at bottom mentioning "The Blackfoot And The Creek, And The Cruel Apache". Art boards have trace of lt. dust soil but both image areas with mat and frame to Fine/VF appearance. Cory did covers and interior illustrations for various magazines including "St. Nicholas, The Saturday Evening Post, Life, Scribner's", and "Century" and went on to do the "Little Miss Muffet" comic strip. Wonderful whimsical images.
