Item Description
6.5x8.5" glossy shows all three players holding personalized plaques. Hank Greenberg is wearing Army Sgt. Uniform with plaque showing him saluting with American flag in background, Joe DiMaggio is in tuxedo holding plaque with him swinging bat with Yankee Stadium in background, and Mel Ott is wearing tuxedo holding plaque showing him in uniform with stadium in background. Photo has attached International News photo paper caption dated February 1, 1942 for annual dinner of the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association held in the grand ballroom of the Hotel Commodore. Greenberg was honored as baseball soldier of the year, DiMaggio was honored as the player of the year and Ott, who was the new manager of the New York Giants, was rewarded for his contributions to baseball. Surface front has a few barely noticeable hairlines just visible in reflected light and paper caption is tanned with age and has players names underlined in ink. Photo is VF.
