Item Description
8x10" clean and glossy photo with wonderful image of noted Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella wearing suit sitting in crowded stands at game. Reverse side has hand-written text in Spanish noting game was between the New York Giants and Cleveland Indians along with Salas photo ink stamp. Photo has lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light with very faint impression from writing on reverse just visible in reflected light on front. Fine. Campanella was one of the greatest catchers in the history of the game and a pioneer in breaking the color barrier in the MLB playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940s and 1950s. His career was tragically cut short in 1958 due to an automobile accident which left him paralyzed. Campanella was inducted into the HOF in 1969. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
