Item Description
8x10" glossy showing opposing pitchers for fourth game of World Series with Harry Taylor of the Brooklyn Dodgers and Floyd Bevens of the New York Yankees in uniform shaking hands before the game. Reverse side has attached paper caption dated October 3, 1947 for game held at Ebbets Field along with ink stamp for United Press International. Center of photo has horizontal crease but photo is glossy and Fine. The Yankees won the World Series in seven games and this series is noted for the first to have an African-American player with Jackie Robinson playing for the Dodgers. The Yankees lost game four and this was the last major league appearance for pitcher Bevens. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hakes's COA.
