Item Description
7x9" glossy photo with pencil caption on reverse has sharp image of "The Heater From Van Meter" leaning at edge of dugout in Cleveland Indians uniform holding baseball bat and watching action on the field. Very early image of Feller, based on the uniform style, photo was taken during the 1938 season. Photo is printed slightly off center leaving no white margin at left side edge but revealing more of photo. Scattered lt. spiderwebbing to photo emulsion visible in reflected light, otherwise totally clean and VF. One of the best right-handed pitchers in baseball history, Feller played for the Cleveland Indians from 1936 to 1956 and was inducted into the Baseball HOF in 1962. Feller was the first pitcher in history to win at least 20 games a season before the age of 21 and led the AL in strikeouts in seven seasons, pitching 279 complete games.
