8x10" matte finish glossy showing huge crowd in stands and outfield as well as on roofs of buildings in background. Photo comes with original loose printed caption dated October 9, 1929 titled "51,000 See World Series Opener In Chicago. Wrigley Field, Chicago Taxed To Capacity Today, October 8, As World Series Opening Game Took Place Between Chicago Cubs And Philadelphia Athletics." Reverse side of photo has ink stamp credit for Chicago Tribune "P. & A. Photo" with second ink stamp date of Oct. 11, 1929. Photo has a few lt. handling creases just visible in reflected light. Fine. Philadelphia pitcher Ehmke set a World Series record by striking out 13 Cubs in this game. Philadelphia won the game 3-1 and the Series in five games.
