Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" with wonderful image of Diehl in uniform holding bat at home plate. Reverse side is postmarked Aug. 7, 1909 Pekin, IL. with ink notes "Don't You Think This Is A Cute Little Fellow He Is The Best Fielder In The I.M. League." Trace of lt. dust soil. Glossy and Fine. The Pekin Celestials were an Illinois-Missouri League team which played between 1909 and 1913. Walter Diehl played six seasons in the Minor Leagues between 1906 and 1912 and was with the Celestials from 1909 to 1912. His career batting average was .220. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
