Item Description
4.75x5.75" card stock with gold accent edge has wonderful art image of Harris in Senators uniform standing at edge of Florida beach at sunset about to throw huge baseball titled "Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year." Card has facsimile signature at lower left. Card front has pinpoint age dot at lower left and minor trace of dust soil, blank reverse has bit of surface paper from scrapbook removal in four corners. Fine. Scarce with extremely limited distribution. Harris spent most of his playing career as a second baseman with the Washington Senators between 1919 and 1928 and played for and managed the team beginning in 1924. At the age of 27 he was the youngest regular Major League manager, directing the team to a World Series Championship in his rookie season and the AL pennant the following year. He left the Senators in 1928 but managed them again from 1935 to 1942 and from 1950 to 1954. He managed the Detroit Tigers twice, in the early 1930s and the mid-1950s, Boston Red Sox in 1934, Philadelphia Blue Jays in 1943 and the 1947 New York Yankees World Champions. He became the Boston Red Sox General Manager in 1959. He was elected to the Baseball HOF as  a manager in 1975. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
