Item Description
Each is 3-3/8x5-3/8". Two have printed dates of 1914 and include Villa with his wife while the other shows him with Generals Zapata and Urbina. Next shows him holding pistol with four piece band at left and militia at right all wearing sombreros. Last three cards are from 1923 #1, 3, 6. One shows his dead body hanging out of passenger seat in car with crowd watching and other two show him bloodied in hospital bed. Second card has note in ink on reverse titled "The Old Days Of Revolution" giving brief history of generals shown in photo. Emulsion is a bit yellowed on four, otherwise all are Fine/VF. Francisco Villa whose real name was Jose Arambula (1878-1923) was a prominent general during the Mexican Revolution and was also provisional governor of Chihuahua in 1913 and 1914. The Revolution lasted from 1910 to 1920 at which point Villa retired. In 1923 he got involved in Mexican politics and was assassinated as a result.
