Item Description
7-3/8x9.75" glossy showing Powell in Chicago American Giants uniform has ink text at top "Little Willie Powell The Boy Wonder Of The American Giants Baseball Team Of 1927 Champions 1926-27". Lower left has photographer credit "Woodard's Studio. Chgo." Photo has lt. handling creases, lower right corner has 1.5" clip. VG. Powell debuted with the Chicago American Giants in 1926 and tossed a shut out to help the Giants win the Negro League World Series against the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants. He led the Negro National League in 1928 with a 2.98 average. Nice sharp image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
