Item Description
18.5x23.5" frame contains 3x8-1/8" check dated April 26, 1954 and made out for $12.15 to the Palo Alto Times. Check has been filled out and signed in green ink. Typical cancellation holes/stamp on reverse present, not affecting signature, which remains Exc. Check is framed with a large recent photo print of Cobb in his Detroit Tigers uniform. Nicknamed "The Georgia Peach," Cobb's skill on the field was impressive. He was named 1911 American League MVP with a .367 career batting average (the highest ever), had 54 career steals of home (the most all time), 12 batting titles, including nine in a row from 1907-1915 (again the most all time). Cobb also ranks third all time in stolen bases with 892, second in runs scored with 2,245, second in career hits with 4,191. Great display of one of baseball's greats. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
