Auction #206 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1278 in auction 206
Item Description
From the Estate of Peter J. Vorzimmer, co-author of the 1967 NASA Project Gemini Chronology book. See item #1046 for Vorzimmer biography. Glossy photo has been professionally framed and matted to 7.5x9.75" in a 12.5x15.75" brushed aluminum frame w/UV glass. Photo shows Cernan in spacesuit and has been signed in black felt tip pen "To Peter, With Very Best Wishes - Gene Cernan." Exc. Gemini 9A was launched on June 3, 1966 and its mission objective was to dock with an Agena Target Vehicle in the same manner as the Gemini 8 mission. However, during the launch of the Gemini 9 Agena on May 17, 1966, its Atlas booster malfunctioned, and it failed to make it to orbit. This mission also had a space walk by Cernan. A great piece from a NASA insider present during the Golden Age of manned space exploration. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
