Item Description
From same set as #1113. Bottom margin text reads "Detroit 1910 Moriarti 3B." Sharp image. Moriarty was a third baseman, umpire and manager in Major League Baseball from 1903 to 1940. He played for the Chicago Cubs, New York Highlanders (Yankees), Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox from 1903 to 1916. He managed the Tigers in 1927-1928 succeeding his former teammate Ty Cobb. He was one of the AL's most highly regarded umpires in his era, officiating in the World Series in 1921, 1925, 1930, 1933 and 1935, serving as crew chief in 1930 and 1935, as well as the All-Star game in 1934. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
