Item Description
6.75x9.75” original vintage glossy has players Larry Brown and Johnny Hines in uniform w/catcher’s mitts and standing on stadium field. Bottom has “1935” ink date, and Brown’s name is hand inked on his jersey. While Hines only played in the Negro Leagues for Chicago, Brown played for numerous teams including the Indianapolis ABC's, Birmingham Black Barons, NY Black Yankees, Detroit Stars and others. Hines baseball career was overshadowed by his murder conviction of former teammate James Bray. Photo has lt. aging w/a few lt. creases visible in reflected light. Left and right side edges are neatly trimmed. Upper left corner tip is missing .5” piece. Some faint traces of red discoloration but nothing very distracting. Good. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
