Item Description
5x7” glossy c. 1914-15. Wonderful patriotic image shows men in suits in front followed by Brooklyn Tip-Tops players in uniforms carrying huge American flag on stadium field followed by players in Pittsburgh Rebels uniforms. Reverse side has “Paul Thompson” ink stamp credit w/ pencil notation. Tiny corner tip wear, glossy and Exc. Organized as a new league to compete w/the American and National League, mainly because of the “reserve clause”, the league only existed in 1914-15 before it declared bankruptcy partially due to paying high players salaries. Historic photo. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
