Item Description
1.5x2.25" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand and a follow-up to the 1924-25 series. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 37 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers, soccer players and other subjects. Glossy photo front with text below portrait "Base-Ball J. Rodriguez (1 B.)" Sharp, bold image. The card back has the card number and an ad for Aguilitas (the baseball cards were skip numbered between 751 and 849).
AKA Jose Rodriguez played three seasons of MLB from 1916-18 for the New York Giants and in the Cuban League from 1914-39. Elected to the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1951. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
