Item Description
1.5x2.25" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand and a follow up to the 1924-25 series. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 37 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers, soccer players and other subjects.
Luque was an early 20th century Cuban starting pitcher in the MLB. He was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds HOF in 1967. A native of Havana, Luque played winter baseball in the Cuban League from 1912 to 1945. He was also a long-time manager in the league. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1957. Graded 60 EX 5 and designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
