Item Description
c. 1950s original art designs in ink and watercolor hand lettered for “Nabisco Shredded Wheat” box front, back and six proposed premium statues. 8x10.75” thin art board has design at top w/stage backdrop designed to be cut out for “Big Top Circus Freaks Free Inside/6 In The Series! Collect Them All!” “Actual Size Strong Man” is 2.25” tall w/five other figures at right. 2.25x6.75” image area at bottom has nicely detailed image area w/six named premium statues: “Rubber Man, Strong Man, Bearded Lady, Sword Swallower, Snake Charmer, Fire Eater”. Art board has a few neatly done artist pencil notes, lower right corner tip has .5” piece of masking tape. Image area is bright and Exc. 5.75x7-3/8” sheet has “Front Of Package” pencil text. Lower right has 2.75x2-7/8” image area w/detailed art of “Sword Swallower” and text “Free Inside! Plastic Circus Freak Statuette See Back Of Package”. Text in white paint is a bit worn, image area otherwise bright and Exc. The detailed plastic figures would most likely have been made by Marx if this premium would have been put into production. A stat of the box back design comes along. Exceptional and unique designs, superb for display. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
