Generic original cardboard shipping carton contains one of extremely limited edition production run of just 25 produced on the 100th anniversary of The Yellow Kid in 1995 by Gemstone Publishing Inc. Box is marked "XX/XXV" twice in marker, no other markings. Statue was designed by Bowen Designs, Inc., an innovator in comic character collectible statues. 13.25" tall gold-gilded bronze statue of The Yellow Kid on base w/"The Yellow Kid – February 17 - 1895" plaque. Base also has wraparound gold-gilded New York City skyline design and "The Yellow Kid" name is also gilded. Yellow Kid's shirt has raised lettering that reads "Say! Dis Is My 100th Birtday - Hully Gee!" Reverse reads "Dis Is Grate Stuff!" Yellow Kid is depicted in pose reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty, holding torch and copy of Joseph Pulitzer's "New York World" newspaper dated Feb. 17, 1895. "New York World" is where The Yellow Kid comic strip ran. Statue base is inscribed "Bowen After R. Outcault" (Yellow Kid's creator). Back of base has "XX/XXV" incised edition number, indicating this is 20 of 25 produced. Base reverse also has etched Bowen signature. Gemstone Inc./Randy Bowen copyright. Comes w/19.75x29.75" frame that contains signed and numbered remarqued lithograph featuring full color Randy Bowen art w/Yellow Kid images on border. Litho has been professionally double-matted to 12.5x22.5" and has 2.5x2.5" area at lower left of image area that has been remarqued in gold paint pen by Bowen, who has drawn a cartoon of The Yellow Kid, his shirt reading "Dis Is How It All Began." Bowen has also signed his name and added "XX" edition number. Comes w/9.5x12" presentation folder w/8.5x11" matching number "The Yellow Kid - Gold Edition" COA that has been signed by Bowen. All contents are Mint as issued. Much scarcer than the 100 Bronze Edition statues (w/hidden ring compartment and ring) released, this edition was originally issued for $3,495.
