Item Description
Each token is copper and 1-1/8". The first two are anti-Jackson and pro-Whig cataloged in DeWitt/Sullivan as CE1834-9 and 16. The first shows running boar with slogans such as "Down With The Bank." The reverse shows Jackson and uses the word "My" as part of four slogans. Only slight wear. Fine. The second shows Jackson in a safe holding a sword and money bag with the slogan "I Take The Responsibility." Reverse shows a donkey and additional slogans. Worn but with clear details. The next two are anti-Van Buren and pro-Whig from 1838. The first shows tortoise with a safe on its back while reverse shows a running donkey with the slogan "I Follow In The Steps Of My Illustrious Predecessor." Slightly smooth but very clear details. The second shows a ship with "Webster Credit Current 1841" around and reverse has slogan "Millions For Defense/Not One Cent For Tribute." Lightly worn but clear details. Last is a hard times token from 1837. Front shows "Merchants Exchange Wall St. N. York" and reverse reads "Millions For Defense/Not One Cent For Tribute." Light wear. Fine.
