Item Description
1-1/8" with metal loop and ring on top edge. DeWitt 1876-20 and he adds the following information: The Dies Were Designed By Leffert. The Pieces Were Made By The Celluloid Company Of Newark, NJ. Made In Five Different Colors - Amber, Coral, Red, Black And Yellow." There was a companion piece made for Hayes. This is apparently the amber version. Both portrait areas have taken on a darker brown color and each of the raised images has a vertical 5/8" hairline surface crack apparently due to the shrinkage of the material over time. The cracks are on the image areas only and do not extend above and below so the piece is still very stable. The first we can recall being offered by anyone in five decades. Rare.
