Item Description
Lot of six original art designs for 1992 Overstreet Price Guide cover. Three 11x17.75" "Marvel Comics" thin artboards w/art in India ink and marker. First board has two image areas, each 5.25x8-3/8". Image "A" has Spidey battling The Vulture, The Rhino, and Green Goblin; image "B" has him battling Green Goblin. Second board has single 5.25x8-3/8" image area noted as "C" w/Spidey battling Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, The Vulture, and The Lizard. Neither board is signed. Third board has 5.25x13.75" image area w/three scenes numbered in lead pencil of Spidey leaping. Signed "Bagley" in ink near bottom. Group comes w/two handwritten 6x8.75" letters in ink to "Bob" enclosing "Sketches For The Cover," noting he thinks "The First Is The Strongest." ("B" cover w/Green Goblin was ultimately chosen). One letter has creasing at top, otherwise both are VF. Also includes worn, but good hand-addressed mailing envelope and hand-colored photocopy of slightly different version of "A" design. Final two items are both softcover first editions of "Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide" #22 w/Bagley cover showing Spider-Man fighting The Green Goblin. Bob Overstreet has signed both in ink on title pages. NM. All originals are extremely well done, and would look great framed individually or as a group. Bagley's work on "The Amazing Spider-Man" comics book led him to be considered the definitive Spider-Man artist of the mid-1990s, w/his artwork being used extensively for licensed material, appearing on everything from plates and cups to credit cards and even video games. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection. Comes w/COA.
