Item Description
Al Kaline, (also know as "Mr. Tiger" due to his playing his entire 22-year baseball career w/the Detroit Tigers) is an 18 time All Star and 10 time Gold Glove winner. Upon retiring from playing, he became the Tigers' TV color commentator, a position he held until 2002. Kaline still works for the Tigers as a front office official. He was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 1980. Offered here is a boxed Wilson "Autograph League Al Kaline" model Np. A1080 ball. Box has been opened (originally sealed w/glue) and shows moderate wear. Fine. Ball has lt. age toning w/Kaline's facsimile signature remaining bold and distinct on sweet spot. VF/Exc. 5.5x8x10" tall box contains Wilson "Famous Player" model No. A2216 glove w/Kaline's endorsement w/facsimile signature in glove pocket. Box shows wear w/handling wear and creases at corners, though box retains its shape. Glove shows wear from use and has child owner's signature in ink on exterior and interior a total of seven times. Fine overall. Both items c. late 1950s.
