Item Description
Jan. 22 contract issued by King-Trendle Broadcasting Corp. Three typewritten onionskin sheets, each 8.5x13”, for period Feb. 1, 1937 and ending Aug. 1, 1937 pay Todd $70 per week, followed by $80 for the next six months, then continuing $80 afterwards. Third sheet is signed in ink at bottom of third page “Geo. Trendle” and “John Todd”. Sheets have light creasing, small staple tear just below Trendle signature. Lower right blank corner tip of last page has .25x1” piece missing. Sheets overall Fine w/ bold and Exc. signatures. Comes w/8x10” vintage glossy original publicity photo w/Todd in costume. Exc. Todd (1877-1957) became Tonto on the 12th Lone Ranger broadcast Feb. 25,1933 and was the only original cast member on the last radio show Sept. 3,1954. An historic and rare signature, especially together w/Trendle. From the archives of Detroit’s WXYZ and obtained by former long time station employee Jiam DesJardin.
