Item Description
From same set as #973. This card is from the Detroit Tigers subset. Graded Poor because of surface paper loss to the back but front image remains strong and bold. In our July 2012 auction an example of this card that was SGC 20 Fair 1.5 sold for $610. Willet played with the Detroit Tigers of the AL (1906-1913) and the St. Louis Terriers of the Federal League(1914-1915). His best season was 1909 when he had a record of 21–10, ranking third in the AL in wins and fifth in winning percentage. In two games of the 1909 World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Willett pitched 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing no runs and three hits. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
