Original release 27x41" one-sheet movie poster for the classic 1956 MGM science fiction film directed by Fred M. Wilcox and starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen as well as Robby the Robot, one of the first movie robots that was more than just a mechanical tin can on legs. "Forbidden Planet" is the first sci-fi film in which humans are depicted traveling in a starship of their own construction and it was also the first sci-fi film set entirely on another planet in deep space, away from Earth. Classic poster depicts Robby the Robot carrying Anne Francis across alien planet landscape, w/space station and ringed planets in bkg. Poster has been folded as issued and shows lt. wear along fold lines. Poster is evenly and lightly aged, but in its original state, not linen-mounted and w/no touch-ups or restoration. Pinholes at corners w/some small tape strips at three corners. Upper left corner has tiny piece off, but poster is o/w Fine/VF. Widely considered one of the great sci-fi films of the 1950s, "Forbidden Planet" is a precursor of what was to come for the sci-fi film genre in the decades that followed.
