Item Description
c. early 1980s. 13x16" high quality wood frame has archival mat w/6.5x9”opening. Main Street Disneyland scene features stylized buildings in the bkg. and band in center w/Mickey, Donald, Ludwig, Uncle Scrooge, Horace and Clarabelle. Goofy and Minnie are riding by in an antique car as Donald's nephews play hoops. Lower right is boldly signed in pencil by the artist “Daan Jippes”. Glass front has plaque reading "Early Color Concept Drawing For A Placemat Produced By Walt Disney Co. In The Early 1980s." Attached to the back of the frame is 3x5" paper sheet w/hand-inked note mentioning art was a concept for a new placemat and that the place mat designs changed "Every 7 Years Of So" and that the Consumer Product Division asked for new designs. At center of art is an extremely ft. vertical fold line only visible on close inspection, otherwise NM as professionally framed. Ready for display. Jippes started his comics career in the Netherlands, gaining fame w/Dutch Donald Duck comics. He went to work for the Walt Disney Company in merchandising, then moved on to do designs and storyboards in the animation department. Well done. Ready for display.
