Item Description
We've included these in the political section as they come from the collection of Sen. Charles Dick of Ohio. First is large 9" tall with embossed silver luster hanger bar and silver metallic fringe. This reads "Officer Of The Day./Akron, Ohio, July 4th." Tiny age tone and very minor creases. Exc. Second is 6.25" tall with large celluloid "Member" hanger suspending blue fabric edged in dark gold showing the state in silver with silver text "The Ohio Club/Cleveland, Ohio." 1.75" domed celluloid below picturing eagle and shield while reverse has wreath surrounding words "In Memoriam." There is also a second silver on black reverse ribbon for use at funerals. Top edge of this has patent dates from 1892 & 1893. Slight fade of the blue fabric with tiny 1/8" stress line near upper left and right corners. The celluloid is glossy and without stain. Third item has multi layered thin fabric rosette used on 1892 Republican Convention badges. In this case the 3" dia. piece with silver sequins star at center is held by a pair of chains forming a triangle to a silver metal bar then suspending red fabric with fringed edges. A little dust on the fringe and the red fabric ribbon has 1/8" hole near the bottom plus two small 1/8" tears. Each vertical edge is accented by glass faceted jewels and text reads "Reception Committee/Monday Merchants League Club." Long silver fringe at the bottom and from the silver hanger at the top are a pair of very elaborate 3" long tassels also with silver fringe. Back of the piece has paper label from "St. Louis Engraving Co., Makers..." There is an early style safety pin on the reverse of the rosette. Although showing some age a very impressive business association ribbon badge. Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
