Item Description
Lot consists of 19 thin artboards measuring 11x15.5" and featuring original pen and ink art by comic book artist Kurt Schaffenberger (for artist info, see previous item #2022). Offered here is the complete original art for "Clark Kent - The Grooviest Guy In Smallville" story that was printed in "Superboy" #26, published by DC Comics in Feb. 1982. Issue was written by Cary Bates w/interior art and cover by Schaffenberger and inks by Dave Hunt. Story details Clark Kent missing girlfriend Lana Lang's birthday party to fight crime as Superboy. Story goes on to have Lana's uncle unwillingly supplying crooks w/technology to pull off heist as well as Clark being irresistible to Smallville's female population. In his Clark Kent secret identity, he is attacked, nearly revealing his secret. Story goes on to have Superboy defeat crooks and save Lana's uncle. Clark Kent appears in total of 33 panels while he appears as Superboy in total of 24 panels. Pages have inked/penciled editorial notations at margins w/publishing paste-overs at bottom margin of first page. Pages have been slightly trimmed and each page has three .5" to 1" corner clips, but these issues do not affect art or text in any way. Scattered handling wear w/aging along margins. Scattered white correctional fluid touch-ups, but Fine overall. From the collection of comic book inker Dave Hunt.
