Item Description
Generally considered the rarest of the late 40s premium Cuban caramel cards. There are 96 cards in the set and they feature players from the four teams of the Cuban Professional League that season. Cards are 1-5/8x2-7/16" printed on thick paper stock with bw photo image on front and text backs w/player and issuer information. Many American players, including Negro League stars, are featured in this set. A corresponding album for the cards was issued. Some of the key/star cards in this lot include: #14 Sam Jethroe, #30 Lennox Pearson, #36 Henry Thompson, #37 Henry Kimbro, #46 Cocaina Garcia, #61 Alejandro Crespo, #72 Silvio Garcia. All cards have been graded by SGC and all have been designated by them as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection." Grade breakdown is as follows:
