Item Description
Original cardboard box w/"Rocket-Bank" name printed on sides contains 8" long cast metal bank by Duro Mold & Manufacturing Co. c. late 1950s. Box is unmarked other than bank name and shows lt. wear. VF. Raised "Rocket Bank" text on front of base while "Mercury" appears on each side of the rocket. Front side has "Duro Mold & Manufacturing Co." decal indicating this as a salesman's sample. These banks typically are found w/decals for issuing banks. On top of rocket is a small futuristic plane that is pulled back, locking in place a spring-loaded mechanism. Small spaceman figure is also on top and this is pushed so the plane launches forward, firing the coin into a slot on the nosecone. Works. Has trap though key is missing. Choice, NM condition w/brilliant chrome luster. Scarce w/box. Rare decal variety. See following item #2553.
