5.5x8.25" First Edition, 35th Printing (a testament to this classic book's enduring popularity) hardcover, complete w/unclipped dust jacket. First published by the J.B. Lippincott Company in 1960, it was immediately successful, winning the Pulitzer Prize, and has become a classic of modern American literature. Dust jacket has "Pulitzer Prize Novel" notation. The plot and characters are loosely based on the author's observations of her family/neighbors, as well as on an event that occurred near her hometown. The novel is renowned for its warmth and humor, despite dealing w/the serious issues of rape and racial inequality. Atticus Finch, has served as a moral hero for many readers and serves as a model of integrity for lawyers. Harper has signed in black felt tip pen on title page "To Bill - With Best Wishes - Harper Lee." First inside page has bookplate attached w/surface paper lift where owner's name once was. Book itself has corner tip wear and is Fine overall w/clean, Exc. pages. Lee's inscription/signature displays Exc. Dust jacket is complete w/o clips, though top and bottom of spine shows wear w/some small pieces missing (top missing .25x1" sliver). Edges have some creases and jacket has some scattered color rubs. VG/Fine. While Lee has signed more recent publications of her landmark book, finding an original signed copy like this example is rare. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
