Item Description
10x14” hardcover by “Sully” w/16 single sided sheets based on New Jersey beach resort. Possibly designed for potential tourist publication or as a special gift from the artist. Front cover, back cover, and six sheets have watercolor paintings, one sheet has brown watercolor painting. Inside front cover and remaining sheets have b/w pen and ink art. Many images have handwritten captions or poems. Scenes include couple on sand dunes, rowboats on shore, couples and families in swimsuits, going to movies, getting to and from beach from Lakewood, "The Dog Roast, The Fox Trotters, At The Carleton Grill”. One page has text reference to Babe Ruth as “Red Sox Crack Pitcher,” another page has art of baseball game between Pt. Pleasant and Beacon w/"Fatty Arbuckle The Komic Katcher”. Inside front cover has artist self -portrait at drawing board, inside back cover has small paste-up real photo signed “Sincerely Yours Sully”. Covers have lt. edge wear w/some aging. Good/VG. Contents VF. Well done w/great scenes of a bygone era.
