Item Description
13.5x19.5" frame contains three 2.75x3.75" pieces of thin artboard w/original pen and ink art by Jack Davis, a cartoonist and illustrator known for his magazine covers, film posters, record album art and numerous comic book stories. He is also remembered as one of the founding cartoonists for "MAD" in 1952. Cards depict - "Ray Moore - Pitcher - Twins" w/faint blue pencil reading "Farmer" before his name, as art shows a caricature image of Moore pitching barefoot and in coveralls, a hoe in his hand. "Charlie Maxwell - Outfield - Tigers" w/faint blue pencil reading "Paw Paw" in between his first and last names, as he is depicted at bat dressed in Indian loincloth w/feathers hanging off his baseball cap. "Duane Mass - Pitcher - Angels" w/faint blue pencil reading "Duke" in between his first and last names, as he is depicted wearing tuxedo tails, a sash and a monocle. In addition to pen and ink art, there is some preliminary blue pencil sketching visible. Scattered white correctional fluid, but art displays Exc. The 1961 Topps Magic Rub-Offs insert set consisted of 18 team pennants and 18 players (each team represented by a pennant and player) and were inserted one per wax pack of the 1961 Topps regular issue first series baseball cards. Art has been professionally framed and relief mounted for an awesome display. Comes with Topps Vault COAs for each piece.
