Item Description
15x22" artboard has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1963-1967 Pyro Plastics model kit No. C213-300 featuring the United States Lightship Nantucket (LV-112), also known as Lightship No. 112. Nantucket is a National Historic Landmark Lightship that served at the Lightship Nantucket position. She was the last serving Lightship and at time of its application as a landmark, one of only two capable of moving under their own power. She served as the Lightship for such notable vessels as SS United States, RMS Queen Mary, and SS Normandie. Art is signed by A.J. Rudisill, an internationally-acclaimed artist whose original acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes have been exhibited at major galleries throughout the country. Earlier in his career Rudisill provided stunning model kit box art, such as this being offered here. Art shows the ship at sea w/sailors on the deck, one seen looking through binoculars. Seagulls fly about the ship and a tanker ship can faintly be seen in the distant bkg. Large image area takes up the entire artboard. Piece has some lt. corner tip wear, but this could be easily matted out. Art is Exc. and would look stunning framed. Impressive model kit art.
